on the architect as digital bricoleur

machine control + robot savior-faire

This thesis explores innovation in the shifting skills of the architect through the emerging paradigms of automation and digital bricolage. This is undertaken through fabrication of a customized digital making machine. The aim is that by exploring various current digital fabrications methods, techniques of making, and producing architecture new insight into future making can be gained. This is undertaken through a rigorous process of designing and making digital fabrication devices through automated machine processes. Through the process of utilising and making it will be possible to rationalize each devices strengths and weaknesses in their potentials for making.
